TheShowreel (www.theshowreel.tv) now even faster (5mb/1000mb) and with higher bitrate (1500k/S).. Just before Christmas UtopiaPeople (www.utopiapeople.com) launched a site for creating showreels. It is a subscribtion based service with a user friendly drag and drop function that has been custom built for TheShowreel. The included software compress and upload all formats of quicktime automatically to high quality H264FLV, which makes this service incredibly easy to use. If quicktime can play it, so can Theshowreel. Now TheShowreel offers even higher bitate (1500K/S when launching this was set at 1000K/S) and to make the product even more attractive we have squeezed up the upload/download rate to 5mb/s (down) and 1000mb/s (up) offering amazing playback of HQ showreels.
TheShowreel has been custom built in cooperation with Swedish streaming experts Navicast, and is geared towards advertising, TV and the film business. The user is not required to have prior knowledge in programming for the web, nor compressing in order to create an internet based showreel with it's own web address. TheShowreel markets itself both to the freelancers in these areas of work, but also towards companies who want to display their work in DVD quality. The service includes support for Iphone/smartphones, playorder, download, password protection, podcasting and offers streaming in amazing 1500K which gives the viewer a picture with higher quality than a DVD.

Yes.
I think with enthusiasm & commitment you can make anything much cheaper.
I'd say a nice PC - preferably Quad-core to help with frustrating render times and anyone of the top 3D packages out there. 3D Studio Max is my software of choice - or Cinema4d, Maya, Softimage...
Cost obviously varies - I managed to pick a made to order quad-core g9650 with NVidia Quadro FX1700 for just over £400 via eBay and it works a treat - so shop around!
Spirit Within proved that a turd can't be polished. So a good idea is a must then the graphics will follow.

Unfortunately, i have just finished watching final fatasy; the spirits within. (go ahead and shake your head in disappointment.)
what i did like was the technology used to make the movie.
i started doing research as to what kinds of soft and hardware was used to make the movie.
apparently the technology used is pretty much obsolete.
my question is ...
is it posible to make a movie like final fantasy: the spirits within (without the suck-i-ness of a ridiculous plot.) cheaper?
if so what would i need?
Hardware and Software wise.
and what would it cost me?

| Resident Evil 5 is out and has already sold 4 million copies and taken the number 1 slot. We at WhichDimension loved playing the demo, with it's great gore HD graphics, fast gameplay (although abit of a panic when you need to reload mid-battle!) and we here the full games story matched up to the rest. We'd love to here what other gamers are feeling about this eagerly waited release! |
